北米映画市場に、ふたたびホラー映画の波がやってきた。10月9日～11日の週末ランキングは、ジェシカ・チャステイン主演の『アザー・マミー』がNo.1を獲得。公開4週目にしてNo.3を堅持する『バイオハザード』と並んで、ジャンルとしての強い興行力を見せつけた。 『アザー・マミー』は、北米3365館で週末興収2750万ドルを記録し、事前予測の2000万ドルを大きく上回った。
